Neloshan International is a registered organization that seeks to improve the wellbeing of single mothers within Shamata, in Nyandarua County, on the western side of Mount Kenya. Research indicates that goat milk is more nutritious as compared to cow milk and it offers more calories with high proteins and more fat. Dairy goats also have a low carbon footprint as compared to keeping cows.

By joining this sponsorship, you are contributing to the livelihood of a single mother and her family in Shamata, Kenya. Just $50/month will provide one family with two dairy goats, training on dairy goat management, prevention of sexual gender based violence, human rights, decision making skills, marketing and value addition of dairy goat products and good farming practices.

By providing dairy goats, Neloshan International will address the above SDGs by reducing poverty at the household level through the sale of milk, kids and manure, thereby increasing income for families. Increases in household income will lead to Zero hunger as the targeted households will have access to nutritious food for the children. Single mothers targeted will be involved in decision making as they will be trained on various aspects like leadership and decision making skills, marketing, goat rearing, good farming practices, and hence contribute to the wellbeing of their households and the society. Since the single mothers are empowered in decision making skills, they will be able to speak out against domestic abuse as the single mothers who are poor are prone to being physically and sexually abused. They will also be sensitized to land rights and on prevention of gender-based violence.
