I am riding to support Kenyan women in the slum community of Kibera, who care for children orphaned by AIDS, along with their own families. Through micro-loans and a host of wrap-around training and supports, these amazing women are empowered to feed their children and keep them in school.
The results over the last 12 years are very exciting! Over 600 children look forward to a brighter future. 135 women can now feed their children at least twice a day. Some own their own homes and provide employment for the community. 17 youth have trained in a trade and 9 have completed university. Village of Love is transforming lives!
The community has recently been hit by the withdrawl of US aid, particularly aid for antiretrovirol drugs to treat HIV. Village of Love has been providing funds for additional food baskets and other supports to keep women healthy in this difficult time.
I have had the privilege of visiting Kibera and meeting some of these women and children. Their strength, love and hope is inspiring.
Thank you for supporting this initiative. Help change the lives of women and children.
Join us in pedaling with purpose!
We’re a team of passionate volunteers cycling to support women in Kenya who are doing something extraordinary—raising orphaned children alongside their own, often with very limited resources. Through CAP Network's annual bikeathon, we’re raising funds to help them provide food, education, and a brighter future for the children in their care.
All proceeds from this ride go to Kijiji Cha Upendo (Village of Love) Children’s Project, a grassroots organization based in Nairobi. Since 2010, Village of Love has been empowering caregivers through micro-loans and small business training, as well as offering psychosocial support, parenting workshops, life skills training, health referrals, and help with school fees.
By supporting this ride, you're not just donating—you’re investing in resilience, dignity, and opportunity for women and children building better lives together.
