I have been riding for Village of Love Canada for a number of years. It has been inspiring to see the number of positive changes and growth in the work and lives of the women and children living in Kibera. However, it is heartbreaking to see the challenges that are now being faced by this community; not only the number of challenges but the severity of them. Just when COVID-19 seems to be under some measure of control, the floods have begun to tear apart the community. Once again, food scarcity has become even more of a problem and the businesses of some of the women in Kibera are being decimated. The clusters of women participating in Kijiji Cha Upendo, continue to strive to support and care for one another. Some are facing evacuation and their precious support of each other is at risk. More than ever they need to feel hope that their efforts can succeed. This ride comes at a critical time. The women and children need, more than ever, to feel that they are not facing another disaster alone. Your support can provide that hope.
