I'm riding this year to support the work of Kijiji Cha Upendo situated in the informal settlement of Kibera, Nairobi Kenya. The events of these past few months filled with greed, self-centeredness and a disregard for those who are struggling to survive has driven home to me the need to be louder and stronger than those who are working towards amassing more for themselves while totalling disregarding and often denigrating the needs, rights and humanity of other human beings. The slashing of international aid has sentenced many people to death. The voices that speak about how to raise up, not just ourselves, but those around us, must be heard. Our actions must become an example of what humans can accomplish when we recognize the humanity in all people, regardless of where they live and what they believe.
Idealistic? maybe, but a kind word, a smile, an acknowledgment, a gesture of politeness, can change someone's mood, bring a glimmer of light and warmth. In the same way, a donation, whether small or large can send a message of concern, caring and hope. Let show hope! Let's ride with purpose!
Join us in pedaling with purpose!
We’re a team of passionate volunteers cycling to support women in Kenya who are doing something extraordinary—raising orphaned children alongside their own, often with very limited resources. Through CAP Network's annual bikeathon, we’re raising funds to help them provide food, education, and a brighter future for the children in their care.
All proceeds from this ride go to Kijiji Cha Upendo (Village of Love) Children’s Project, a grassroots organization based in Nairobi. Since 2010, Village of Love has been empowering caregivers through micro-loans and small business training, as well as offering psychosocial support, parenting workshops, life skills training, health referrals, and help with school fees.
By supporting this ride, you're not just donating—you’re investing in resilience, dignity, and opportunity for women and children building better lives together.
